About Bonnie...

Bonnie Bitondo is the proprietor of Maxwell & Molly's Closet. She is also pleased to say that Maxwell, Molly, Milo, Pipsqueak and Olive are her five precious treasures. Bonnie stopped teaching first grade to take care of her grandson for his first 5 years. However, when he left for Kindergarten, Bonnie realized that she would need another outlet for her "energetic personality". So...she read about the Main Street program beginning in Newton. She has loved to shop in town for many years and thought it would be a wonderful program in which to become involved. She decided to seek out a building on Spring Street in need of some loving attention. She considered then what type of shop Spring Street, and Newton, might enjoy and patronize. She considered a plus size ladies' boutique, a baby boutique, or a pet boutique...all having an exciting atmosphere, and guaranteed to please everyone. She finally decided that her true passion was her 'puppies'. Bonnie had traveled through three states in order to provide the best of what is out there for her own pet's needs. When she decided to open a pet boutique, she vowed to stock only the products which she would place in, on, and/or near, her own dogs.

  About the Cats, Peggy & Gabby...

Peggy

Following the untimely death in May of 1999 of Bonnie & Rick’s youngest child, Gregg Alan, the mother of one of Gregg’s best buddies, delivered two abandoned kittens to the Bitondo home. They were aptly named . . . Peggy – Gregg’s older sister would dress her brother in girl’s clothes and affectionately called him Peggy.  GABby – Gregg’s initials.  Peggy & Gabby are a special part of the family and brave the constant taunting of their canine siblings.

  About Maxwell...

Ah, Maxwell. . . He was Bonnie's first pup, born on August 22, 2004. Bonnie fell in love with a dog belonging to her friend, Lois. He is a Yorkshire Terrier by the name of Jonsey. Valentine's Day was coming, as was Bonnie's 30th Wedding Anniversary. She and her husband Rick decided to celebrate by finding themselves a Yorkie of their own. Well, they had so much fun with Maxwell, they found a little girl this time . . . Molly.

  About Molly...

Molly, Molly, Molly! She was born on December 17, of 2005, and after spending the necessary time (12 weeks) with her mom, Molly came home to live with Bonnie and Maxwell in March of 2006. Now, keep in mind, that the breeder was partially responsible for what happened next ... and that would be Milo.

  About Milo...

Yep, the breeder was retiring. So Bonnie decided to make what was thought to be one final leap and bring home Milo, born on January 25, 2007. Yes Milo was a mere 6 months old at the time the boutique was opening. And he just taunts, teases, and wants everything and anything that Maxwell and Molly have, including his piece of the store.  Milo’s Munchies is the food and treat department of the “Closet.”

  About Pipsqueak...

Pipsqueak . . . Bonnie fell in love again, this time with Lili, the toy poodle of a loyal customer.    Bonnie connected with Lili’s breeder and was blessed with Pipsqueak. Pippy, born on New Year’s Day 2008, is a four pound cream toy poodle, smothered with love by his human parents & canine siblings. BTW, Lili’s human mom, Mary Jo, is now a Maxwell & Molly’s Closet business associate.

  About Olive...

. . . And finally Olive! Unexpected and unplanned, Olive became part of the family through the generosity of a family looking for a loving home for a little girl traumatized by the premature separation from her mother and a long mid-winter airline flight from Texas.  The perky and playful Chihuahua was meant to be part of the family as she shares Molly’s birthday and is affectionately called “Olly".

The boutique is a lovely shop on Spring Street, in Newton, NJ. Newly remodeled and chock full of all kinds of wonderful fashion, jewelry, pet toiletries and supplements, food and treats, toys of all kinds, and travel items for you and your pet.
